Join us for a day of adventure, education, and exploration of this unique and timeless landscape. Experience spectacular views of the Great Salt Lake, step back in time with a visit to the historic Fielding Garr Ranch, and enjoy viewing opportunities of free-ranging bison, mule deer, bighorn sheep, pronghorns, and millions of birds who congregate along the shores of the Great Salt Lake.

Visit different points on the island, watching for the 500 buffalo, antelope, deer, coyotes, migrating birds, and other wildlife that live there.

Forest Bathing at Red Butte Garden & Arboretum

Led by a certified forest bathing guide, you’ll immerse yourself in a deeply sensory experience of one of Salt Lake City’s outdoor gems. Red Butte Garden is known and loved for its incredible array of plant life, 100 acres of beautiful themed gardens and natural areas, and spectacularly scenic mountain setting, just minutes from downtown Salt Lake City. Forest bathing, a Japanese practice, is one of many activities the Garden offers to deepen guests’ appreciation of the outdoor world. It’s been scientifically proven to boost immunity, mental strength, and connection with nature and with others. Afterward, you can enjoy a boxed lunch in our lovely Orangerie, Courtyard patio, or tucked away in one of the shaded wayside areas. Come clear your mind and recharge outdoors before your Travel Con experience begins.

ADA Accommodations: This guided walk can be done by all ages and abilities, but participants should expect to navigate both paved paths and dirt trails. While paved paths are wheelchair accessible, some have steeper inclines due to the landscape’s natural elevation changes. If notified in advance, the Garden can arrange to transport participants up and down these inclines by golf cart, but the carts cannot traverse the dirt paths.

Astronomy, Lasers, and Piano Bar Cocktails Tour

Thursday, March 13
5:30pm - 9:30pm

Attendees will hop on Tucson’s downtown streetcar streetcar to travel to Flandrau Science Center & Planetarium for a full-dome, live astronomy star talk followed by a short laser light music show in the theater.

After the show, TravelCon guests will get a special, close-up look at the small marine inhabitants in our Undersea Discovery exhibit and check out the newest addition to the center, Universe of Science. Then, it’s upstairs for some telescope stargazing with our knowledgeable staff.

For the second part of the evening, it’s back on the streetcar to the Monsoon Room bar located in Jojo’s Restaurant in the historic El Presidio neighborhood. Once there, attendees will get a special, stellar-themed cocktail and chances to taste featured hors d’oeuvres with local flavors. Live cocktail piano music will be featured in the background as you enjoy the evening in the Monsoon Room.
